Expat & Immigrant Support

Moving to a new country can look like an adventure from the outside. From the inside, it can also mean starting over without the people, language, and small certainties that used to hold you up. You can be surrounded by people and still feel completely alone.

My name is Marko, and alongside my clinical work, I’ve lived and worked across different countries myself. I offer support in English for expats and immigrants building a life in the Netherlands—in Arnhem, Amsterdam, or online—for the culture shock, isolation, identity questions, and quiet grief that can come with it.

Support for expats and immigrants

However you arrived here—for work, love, safety, or a fresh start—adjusting to a new culture, language, and system is real work, even when things look fine on paper.

What can this support help with?

  • Culture shock and the disorientation of daily life in a new system
  • Loneliness and the loss of a familiar support network
  • Identity questions that come with living between cultures
  • Grief for the life, people, or place you left behind
  • Cross-cultural relationship or family tension
  • The stress of navigating Dutch bureaucracy, healthcare, or work culture
  • Rebuilding a sense of home and belonging

What does a session look like?

  • The first session maps out what’s changed for you and what support would actually help with
  • Sessions give you space to be heard without needing to translate your experience for someone who’s never lived it
  • We work with what’s underneath the logistics: identity, grief, belonging, and connection
  • The pace and direction are shaped around you, not a fixed program

I work in English. Sessions are available online and in person in the Netherlands—in Amsterdam and Arnhem.

If you’re looking for a space where you don’t have to explain the basics of being far from home before we can start—write to me.
